Trading Day: How Limbix Groups Trades by Day
A trading day in Limbix is the calendar day a trade opened, in your profile timezone. What that means, what a timezone change recalculates, and what it doesn't.
A trading day in Limbix is the calendar day, midnight to midnight, in the timezone on your profile. Each trade belongs to the day it was opened, not the day it closed. Daily P&L, the calendar, daily discipline scores, daily limits and day-based mistakes all use this one definition, so a trade can never sit on two different days.
Why a trading day follows your timezone#
Your days are yours. A trader in Frankfurt and one in Chicago end their day at different moments, and a journal that bucketed both by server time or by UTC would split sessions in half. So every day-based number reads your Timezone from Settings, Profile, the same field you chose in onboarding.
The opening time decides the day because that is when you made the decision. A trade you opened at 23:50 and closed at 00:10 is a decision from the earlier day.
Weeks start on Monday. "This month" is month-to-date, and "this year" starts on 1 January, all in your timezone. NEX uses the same definitions, so "how did I do this week?" means the same range on the Dashboard and in NEX Journal.
Example#
Your timezone is Europe/Berlin. In summer, you open a trade at 00:30 Berlin time on Wednesday. That's 22:30 UTC on Tuesday.
In Limbix it belongs to Wednesday: it's on Wednesday's calendar cell, in Wednesday's daily P&L, and it counts toward Wednesday's max trades per day.
Now you change your timezone to America/New_York. The same trade opened at 18:30 New York time on Tuesday, so Limbix moves it to Tuesday and recalculates both days.
Where it affects your numbers#
- Net daily P&L and the Dashboard calendar.
- Daily discipline scores behind the Discipline Score.
- Exposure Discipline and your stand-down line, which walk each day in order.
- Overtrading and revenge-trade detection, which group trades by day.
- Time-of-day breakdowns, which use your local clock.
Frequently asked questions#
What happens when I change my timezone?#
Limbix recalculates your history for the new timezone. Daily discipline scores, recorded rule violations, session reviews, auto-detected mistakes and prop account state are rebuilt from your trades. A notice in Settings says "Recalculating your history for the new timezone" while it runs, which can take a few minutes on a large account. If it fails, click Retry recalculation. It is safe to run again.
What doesn't move when I change timezone?#
Dates you chose yourself stay put: the day a check-in was filed for, a Notebook entry's date, and a payout date. The exact moment each trade opened doesn't change either. Only the day it's grouped under can change.
Can my trading day start at the futures session open instead of midnight?#
Not today. The trading day is the calendar day in your timezone. The Session start field under Settings, NEX only sets your pre-trade check-in reminder window. It doesn't move the day boundary. A trade opened in the evening futures session counts on that calendar day in your timezone.
Why are my imported trades on the wrong day or hour?#
Most broker files record times with no timezone. Limbix reads those times in your profile timezone at the moment you import. If your timezone was wrong then, the stored times are off by the difference, and changing the timezone later won't shift them. Fix the timezone, undo the import from import history, and import the file again. See troubleshooting.
