NEX prompts: questions to ask your trading journal
Pro36 trading journal prompts NEX can answer from your Limbix record, grouped: before the session, trade review, end of day, weekly, prop accounts, your numbers.
These trading journal prompts are questions NEX can answer from your own Limbix record. Each maps to one of NEX's seven capabilities, so the numbers use your dashboard's formulas. Copy one into the chat in NEX Journal. None asks about a market: NEX doesn't answer those.
What NEX reads#
Each capability reads a specific slice of your record:
| Capability | Reads | Default window |
|---|---|---|
| Ask | Net P&L, win rate and expectancy for trades matching the slice you name: shorts or longs, a symbol, winners or losers, off-playbook trades, morning, afternoon, evening or overnight | Last 30 days |
| Audit | Each trade against its playbook's rules: compliant, non-compliant or unclassifiable | Today |
| Mistakes | Your tagged mistakes, ranked by the losses they cost, with frequency, emotions and days | Last 30 days |
| Brief | Discipline Score and its trend, the weekday with the most off-playbook trades, your carried-forward commitment | This month to date |
| Review | A draft self-review: trades, Discipline Score, best and hardest trade | This week |
| Prop | Buffer to breach, distance to target, stage, status and rule version per prop account | Current state |
| Explain | One of win rate, expectancy, profit factor, net P&L or Discipline Score, with the five trades that moved it most | Last 30 days |
Name a period in plain words and it replaces the default. "This month" means the 1st to today, not a trailing 30 days. The full list is in period words. Expectancy is your average result per trade; profit factor is gross profit ÷ gross loss.
What NEX won't do#
NEX answers questions about what you did. It won't answer what to do next in a market: no calls on direction, entries, exits, stops or size. Ask "should I buy here?" or "is this a good setup?" and it declines in one line, then offers what it can do instead.
Trading journal prompts to try#
Before the session#
Start the day with where you stand and what you promised yourself.
How is this month going?

Which weekday has the most off-playbook trades this month?
What are my costliest mistakes over the last 30 days?
How did my morning trades do over the last 30 days?
How did my trades go yesterday?
Reviewing a trade#

Weekly#
A weekly review is where patterns show. Reviews draft into your Notebook; nothing is saved until you save it.

Prop accounts#
These read the rules stored in Prop Hub. They are informational, not a guarantee from your firm.
How much buffer is left before each prop account breaches?
How far is each prop account from its profit target?
Which of my prop firm rules are not live-monitored?
What stage and status is each of my prop accounts in?
Which rule version is my funded account tracked against?
Show the breach math for my evaluation account.
Explain my numbers#
The same read runs when you press the small NEX question icon beside a dashboard figure (its label is "Ask NEX to explain" plus the figure's name).
Explain my win rate over the last 30 days.
What drove my profit factor this month?
Which trades moved my expectancy most this month?
Explain my Discipline Score for this week.
Why is my net P&L negative in June?
Actions and confirmations#
Every prompt on this page is a read: it writes nothing. Some answers end with an offer, such as linking a playbook to an unclassifiable trade or saving a fix as tomorrow's focus. Those arrive as proposals you Apply or cancel. See Actions and confirmations.
Limits#
- Symbols must be ones you trade. "ES" finds your ES contracts, such as ESU6 and ESZ5. A symbol you never traded is ignored, and NEX answers for all trades, naming the scope it used.
- Under five matching trades, NEX flags the answer as a low sample: raw counts, not a stable rate.
- A review under 30 trades carries a confidence caveat.
- Answers for a large window may summarize some trades day by day; the totals always cover all of them.
Frequently asked questions#
What questions should I ask my trading journal?#
Ask about your own behavior and results: which mistakes cost the most, whether your trades followed your playbook, how a slice of trades did (shorts, mornings, one symbol) and what drove a number like win rate. Group them by moment: a brief before the session, an audit at the close, a review each week. Questions about your next trade or a market get a decline.
What is a good weekly trading review prompt?#
"Draft my weekly review" is the fastest start. NEX drafts a self-review for Monday to today with your trade count, Discipline Score, best and hardest trade, and net P&L as context rather than the grade. Follow it with "Rank my mistakes from last week by cost" and "Which weekday had the most rule issues this week?", then pick one behavior to measure next week.
Why does NEX say it can't help with my question?#
NEX answers from your recorded trades and declines anything about what to trade next: direction, entries, exits, stops, size or market views. Rephrase the question around what you did, such as "How did my shorts do this week?" instead of asking about the next short. If the problem is a period or symbol, NEX says which scope it used so you can correct it.
Can NEX answer questions about my prop firm account?#
Yes, from the rules stored in Prop Hub. NEX can show the buffer left before each account breaches, the distance to target, the stage and status, the rule version and which rules are only advisory, meaning not live-monitored. It states that the figures come from stored firm rules and are informational, not a guarantee. It won't tell you what size to trade to pass.
Do prompts cost anything?#
On Pro, each answered prompt uses one of your monthly NEX interactions; on Ultimate they are unlimited (fair use). A greeting, a "thanks" or an instant decline costs nothing. Past Pro's included amount, NEX switches to a lighter model and keeps answering. Essential doesn't include NEX. See Quotas and privacy.
