The Daily Loop: A Trading Journal Routine

A trading journal routine that runs every day in Limbix: check in, trade to a playbook with a stop, check out, write it down, and review the week with NEX.

On this page

A trading journal routine only works if it runs every day, not only on the bad ones. In Limbix the loop is short: check in, trade to a plan with a stop, check out and write a few lines. Next morning you read the numbers, and once a week NEX reviews the pattern with you.

The daily loop Pre-trade check-in, then a trade linked to a playbook with a stop, then a post-trade check-in, then a Notebook entry. Next morning: Dashboard and Discipline and Risk. Weekly: a NEX review. Then the loop starts again. Start the trading journal routine: pre-trade check-in#

Open Check-ins and answer before your first order. You rate how you're showing up, name any stressors, and set Max trades and Max loss limit for today. If you've drawn a stand-down line, the check-in shows where you stand against it.

During: every trade has a playbook and a stop#

Link each trade to the playbook it was taken under, and record the stop you actually had. Mark any rule you broke. That's three fields, and they carry most of your scores.

After the session: post-trade check-in#

Grade the session before you look at the day's P&L too closely. NEX grades it too, from how far the session drifted from your rules, and shows its grade beside yours.

Write it down: a Notebook entry#

Open Notebook and click New entry. Three honest sentences beat a long one you'll skip tomorrow: what you planned, what you did, what you'd change. Link the day's trades to the entry.

Next morning: Dashboard and Discipline & Risk#

Open Dashboard for yesterday's P&L and the calendar. Then open Discipline & Risk to see the rules you kept and the risk you took. Read the weakest risk component first.

Weekly: a NEX review#

Once a week, open NEX Journal and ask for a review of the week. NEX answers from your journal with the same formulas as the dashboard. It tells you what to change about your execution. It never tells you what to trade.
