Skipped Stop Loss
Skipped Stop Loss counts trades you flagged for no stop or a moved stop. Limbix can't see your order history, so you mark it on the trade and Limbix prices it.
Trades you flagged as having no stop or a moved stop. Limbix can't see your order history, so this one is yours to mark. Skipped stop loss is the one stop-related habit Limbix leaves entirely to you. You mark it on the trade, and the tracker prices it.
How it's calculated#
- you flagged
- A custom mistake you added in the trade's MISTAKES field.
- Net P&L
- The trade's P&L after fees.
src/lib/trade-mistakes.tsNo detector sets this flag, as the Moved Stop entry on mistake detectors explains. Limbix imports your fills, not your order book, so it never sees a stop order being placed, dragged or cancelled. To record it:
- Open the trade and choose Edit.
- In Psychology, find MISTAKES.
- Type
Moved stopand press Add.
Capitals and extra spaces don't matter: "moved stop" and "Moved Stop" are the same label, shown as Moved Stop, and the Trade Log filter finds every one. Pick one wording and keep it: "skipped stop" would become a separate category of its own. Your own mistakes can be removed again, unlike detected ones.
Worked example#
This month you flagged five trades Moved Stop: −€150, −€420, −€90, +€60 and −€310.
Count: 5. Cost: −150 − 420 − 90 + 60 − 310 = −€910. The one winner still counts. The stop moved, and the process broke whatever the result.
When it shows "—"#
Until you flag a trade, there is nothing to count and no Moved Stop card on the Mistakes board. A trade with no stop recorded at all has no planned risk, so it also drops out of R-based metrics: see R-multiple.
How many skipped stop losses is acceptable?#
Zero, provided you flag honestly. A stop that moves only toward profit is trade management, not this mistake. The rule Limbix drafts for this habit says exactly that: "A stop, once placed, only moves toward profit — never further from entry."
How to improve it#
- Record the stop on every trade so Loss Containment can measure it. See add a stop and target.
- Flag it the same day you move one, while you still remember. See mistakes on a trade.
- Make the rule a playbook rule from the Mistakes board's MAKE IT A RULE. See add a rule to a playbook.
Where you'll see it#
- Trade page: your Moved Stop chip in MISTAKES, with a remove button.
- Analytics › Mistakes, the Dashboard's Discipline card and the Trade Log mistake filter. See rank mistakes by cost.
Frequently asked questions#
Why doesn't Limbix detect moved stop losses?#
Limbix imports executed trades, not the orders around them, so it never sees a stop being placed, moved or cancelled. Guessing from price would flag trades wrongly. So you mark it yourself, and Limbix counts and prices it. What the record can prove is measured automatically: Loss Containment checks whether losers with a recorded stop closed near that stop.
How do I mark a trade as a moved stop in Limbix?#
Open the trade, choose Edit, go to Psychology and find MISTAKES. Type Moved stop and press Add. The label is saved on the trade as a custom mistake and appears in the mistake tracker, the Trade Log filter and the Dashboard. Use the same wording each time so the trades group into one category.
Is a trade with no stop loss counted as a skipped stop?#
Only if you flag it. A trade with no stop recorded is not flagged automatically. It does change your other numbers, though: a winner without a stop has no R, and a loser without one is left out of Loss Containment rather than counted as passing. Recording stops is what lets Limbix measure stop discipline for you.
