Risk Flags
ProRisk Flags mark notebook entries where NEX found language tied to tilt, despair or overconfidence. What each flag means, how they count, why none blocks you.
Moments where the AI detected language tied to tilt, despair, or overconfidence. Not failures - early warnings. NEX, the Limbix coach, raises risk flags from your own words in each published notebook entry, and lists the entry behind each one. A flag never blocks a trade.
How it's calculated#
When NEX scores an entry's sentiment, it may also attach flags. There are exactly three. Anything else the model returns is discarded.
| Flag | What it looks like in your writing | Shown as |
|---|---|---|
| Tilt | "Chasing a loss back, revenge language after a stop." | Red chip |
| Despair | "Hopeless framing, giving up on the process." | Red chip with a ring, the most urgent |
| Overconfidence | "Euphoric certainty, sizing up on a streak." | Amber chip |
The model is told to flag only when the language genuinely supports it, and to return none otherwise. One entry can carry more than one flag.
- flags_e
- The flags on one analyzed entry in the range: none, one, or several.
- sessions
- Analyzed entries in the selected range.
src/lib/ai/risk-flag.tsTwo counts, on purpose:
- Risk flags · range counts flags. An entry flagged Tilt and Despair adds two. It prints the cadence as "1 PER … SESSIONS".
- The flag list counts flagged entries. The same entry adds one.
CLEAN STREAK counts your most recent sessions in a row with no flag.
NEX reads your recent flags when you talk to it. If your last week's entries carry Tilt or Despair, NEX is instructed to treat that as a real signal about how you are doing and to lead with you, not with data.
Worked example#
In the last 30 days you wrote 20 analyzed entries. Three were flagged:
| Entry | Flags |
|---|---|
| 4 Sep | Tilt, Despair |
| 11 Sep | Tilt |
| 17 Sep | Overconfidence |
Risk flags · 30D shows 4, "1 PER 5.0 SESSIONS" (20 ÷ 4). The list above it reads 3 flagged entries. None of your last six entries carries a flag, so CLEAN STREAK reads 6 SESSIONS.
When it shows "—"#
| What you see | Why |
|---|---|
| "No flags in …" and "nothing crossed the line in this window" | No analyzed entry in the range carries a flag |
| NO FLAGS IN … instead of a cadence | Same: zero flags, so there is no cadence to show |
| "No flags yet" with the three patterns listed | Nothing analyzed yet |
| Nothing at all | Sentiment analysis is switched off, or you're on Essential |
Flags come only from sentiment reads. Switching off Sentiment analysis on notebook entries in Settings › Data & privacy stops them at once. See sentiment consent.
How many risk flags is normal?#
Fewer flags and a longer clean streak, as long as you keep writing honestly. The worst reading is none at all because you stopped writing after bad days. A quiet window is a good result. Zero flags turns the card quiet rather than red.
How to improve it#
- Read the flagged entry before your next session. Each row opens the whole entry. See NEX sentiment.
- Link the session's trades so each flag shows what was traded that day ("… TRADES LINKED"). See link trades to an entry.
- Set a stand-down line for the days a Tilt flag would have been written. See the stand-down line.
- Compare with your detected mistakes. Tilt language and revenge trades can describe the same afternoon from two sides.
If an entry flagged Despair is about more than a bad week at the desk, talk to someone you trust.

Frequently asked questions#
How does Limbix detect tilt in my trading journal?#
NEX reads each published notebook entry and flags Tilt when your language shows it: chasing a loss back, revenge language after a stop. It reads your words, not your trades. Detected behaviour, such as re-entering minutes after a loss, is covered separately by the revenge trade detector. The two can point at the same session.
Can a risk flag stop me from trading?#
No. Risk flags never block journaling, trading or navigation. Limbix has read-only access to your trade history and cannot place, modify or cancel orders. A flag is a note on your own entry, shown so you notice a pattern early. What you do with it is your decision.
Why does the flag count differ from the number of flagged entries?#
Because one entry can carry more than one flag. The Risk flags card counts flags, so an entry flagged Tilt and Despair adds two. The flag list counts entries, so the same entry adds one. Both are correct. The cadence under the count, "1 PER … SESSIONS", uses flags.
Does NEX tell anyone about a Despair flag?#
Nothing is sent to you by email or push. The flag shows on your own Sentiment page, under the Flagged filter in your Notebook, and in NEX's context when you talk to it, where NEX is told to lead with you rather than with numbers. A Despair flag also raises an internal alert for the Limbix team, carrying the entry's id and its flags, not what you wrote. You can switch sentiment analysis off at any time in Settings.
